I am a MOVIE STAR!

This is another oldie...last year!  Moving from another older blog!

We spent our summer break on the road for 53 days in ad 31' Airstream.  You can read about this trip at The National Park-to-Park Highway Tour 2010.  There you'll find pictures taken on the trip and you can read about my summer adventure there.  You can also see a tornado chase I was involved in quite by accident.

In September of this year I had the opportunity to be an extra in a movie that was being filmed in Birmingham.  I arrived at the Alabama Theatre at 2:00 p.m. and didn't leave again until 10:00 p.m.   The Erwin Brothers were filming "October Baby" starring John Schneider.  Had a terrific time!  The first part of the day was spent mouthing "peas and carrots" and pretending to talk to those sitting next to me in the upper balcony.  I had the option of an "action" part.  I was to get up from my seat and walk to the stairs and go up.  Since I'm a KLUTZ, I declined and passed the part to a beautiful young lady I know.  I'd hate to see the movie and there was my backside on camera!

The second part of the day had the action downstairs and involved more extras.  John Schneider was there as well as the other stars to be filmed.  John explained what was going on while sets were changed or cameras were moved.  Turned out to be a really funny guy!

Back to the balcony!  We'd heard all the lines during the day, so we got to recognize if someone changed them in any way.  Still spent the evening saying "peas and carrots."  We did get to react SILENTLY at first to what was happening on the stage.  Later we got to make a gasping noise!  I was tired and hot when I left.  Those lights are really hot!  Got home safely!

Last week, the TIV (Tornado Intercept Vehicle) from the tv series "Storm Chasers" was at the McWane Center.  I GOT TO RIDE IN THE TIV!!!!  It was tooooo cool for words!  Sean Casey has been chasing tornadoes for awhile in this vehicle and filming tornadoes for an IMAX move.  The filming is complete and he's now editing the film.  It premiers in March, 2011!

That's me and Sean Casey in front of the TIV.  I did see myself on the news from ABC 33/40.  They filmed me in the TIV during my ride. My husband, David, didn't want to ride, so he waited patiently near the McWane Center thinking he wouldn't get on TV.  Well, there is 2 seconds of me riding and about 30 seconds of David in the background while they talked to Sean.  Go figure!

I've always said my worst fear was to be on I-40 in Oklahoma and the TIV passes me and is headed where I'm going.  I'm a storm phobe!  After seeing two tornadoes on I-40 in Oklahoma and now riding in the TIV, I might, MIGHT, consider going on a professional storm chase!

Look forward to more of my wacky life and the fun we have!

Jenny :)

    1. When October Baby comes out next month on DVD, check me out! I'm in the play scene at the first. In the balcony, in front of lights and in a purple dress.
